Sankofa, a Ghanaian concept "To look back to see forward"
As a rites-of-passage and leadership training, the Praise House Project invites participants who are between 12-16 to spend a week learning about the traditional role of griot - community historian and storyteller.
This one week experience will provide:
Access and guidance to resources in genealogical research, including access to national archives,
Creative mentorships with Praise House Project artists who will focus on the use of art and technology as a tool for change,
Exposure to important citywide historic sites and tours,
A chance to conduct oral history interviews with community elders.
